Bio

Welcome to my website. I hope you enjoy looking at the photographs as much as I have enjoyed taking them! A few words about myself..
A native of Dublin city, I bought my first camera, a box type costing 75 pence, in 1966. A year later I had acquired a reflex camera and began photographing Dublin street life.
Moving first to London in 1968, then to Wales in 1970, I continued to record people and places during visits to Ireland. I loved walking through the city, capturing its great wealth of street life.
A visit to Cape Clear island in 1969 was the beginning of a long term passion for wildlife and wild places. Since then I have travelled extensively, concentrating on the Polar regions where I work as a guide and lecturer. Never without a camera, I am captivated by the last great wilderness, the animals, the overpowering landscapes and unpredictable weather.
Working on small expedition cruise ships, I have met many fellow polar enthusiasts and shared marvellous moments at sea and on land. Here are some of my images. Enjoy the moments caught by the camera and please contact me if you have any questions.
